Top Ten All Time Favourites - Top Ten Tuesday

As you probably know, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted weekly by The Broke and the Bookish.  This week's top ten is all time favourite books from the last three years.  I'm going to make this all time favourites that I read in the last three years, rather than released in the past three years, because I don't think I've read enough for that!  I'm also going to split it into true favourites and casual favourites.  My true favourites are books that I know I will love forever.  Books that I couldn't put down once I'd picked them up.  These are the books that I got a special feeling about from the first page.  My casual favourites are books I loved when I read them (and even now), but I know they might not be forever.  I wasn't gripped from the first page, but by the end I was in love.  I hope that makes sense!  It does to me!
Oh, and I'm not including sequels of books already chosen.

True Favourites

1.  Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
2.  Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
3.  Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A. S. King
4.  Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
5.  Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
6.  Angelfall by Susan Ee

Casual Favourites

1.  Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck
2.  Legend by Marie Lu
3.  Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
4.  Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare (this is leaning towards a true favourite, but I'll have to wait to reread it and see - maybe it was just my strong emotions about the characters clouding my judgement!)

So that's this week's top ten for me.  As usual, be sure to share yours in the comments!

  1. Legend made it to my list too! I absolutely love it. I also love the Crown of Midnight. I don't like the other two books in the series that much because there are seriously lacking.

    1. Great! Yeah, Throne of Glass wasn't a favourite but I thought Crown of Midnight was a big step up. I haven't finished Heir of Fire yet though, so we'll see how I feel about that one.
      Sure do and will :)

    2. How far are you into Heir of Fire? Most people are debating the relationship between Calena and Rowan. What do you think of that?

    3. Not that far. About 100 pages or so.
Hmm I'll have to wait 'til the end I think to form an opinion.

  2. I haven't read any of the books on your list... A few of them sound intriguing, so am sure I'll be adding some new book titles to my ever growing reading wishlist!! 3. I have to say, I didn't much like Angelfall. It got really awesome in the last 40 pages, but I found the endless "I have questions," "I refuse to give you any answers!" back and forth that went on for most of it.

    1. It did get very twisted, didn't it? I can definitely see how that could be annoying - I guess the other parts outweighed that for me :)

  4. Crown of Midnight is on my list too. Such an amazing book, way better than the first. What team are you? :3

    1. It was a lot better than the first!
Well, I haven't read Heir of Fire yet, but at this stage it's Dorian!

  5. Clockwork Princess *____* (I don't think I will ever be able to read that epilogue without crying my eyes out). I keep seeing everybody raving about Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Angelfall but I always pick up something else to read instead. I'm ashamed by this

    1. I'm the same as you in that regard Noelia!
Lol! Let that shame drive you to read them :P

  6. I love love love Cruel Beauty! I read Gilded Ashes a few days ago and it was really awesome too. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a really unique book, though my favorite from the series is Dreams of Gods & Monsters. I can't wait to read 3, 4 and 6.
    Awesome list!

    1. Me too :D Gilded Ashes doesn't seem to be available in Australia (I can't get it from iBooks even) so that's a pain. I can't wait until Crimson Bound comes out though!
I loved all the DoSaB books. Dreams of Gods and Monsters was the best conclusion I could ask for.
I hope you like them when you get to them!

  7. I read Attachments not expecting much. OH. MY. GOD I LOVED it! It was sooo good! Angelfall also surprised me; it was so good! Crown of Midnight made my list - I absolutely adore that series and it's by far my favourite so far! Great list!

  8. Great list! Legend is such an awesome book though I still have to read Prodigy and Champion. Angelfall is one that I just bought the other day and I can't wait to get started on it! Everyone seems to love it. I'm a new follower; I love your blog! :)

    1. Oh I hope you get to Prodigy soon - I thought it was even better than Legend, especially in terms of action. Angelfall is obviously one of my favourites! Hopefully you'll like it too :)
      Thanks so much Krystianna!

  9. I love Tiger's Curse! It's such a good series, I'm excited about the 5th one, but I'm also a little hesitant. I haven't actually read Daughter of Smoke and Bone but I really want to! It seems pretty awesome. You're list is pretty awesome :)

    1. Yay! I agree - the series is great! I don't think the 5th one is coming out for quite some time unfortunately. But I know what you mean about being a little hesitant - it was a pretty good conclusion I think, so there's not too much more to add!
Daughter of Smoke and Bone is seriously amazing; I really hope you can get to it soon!
      Thanks Giselle :)
